Before and After

Resin Bound Overlays.
Overlay your Pre-existing Driveway, Path or Patio.

Overlaying a pre-existing structurally stable surface with resin-bound material can be a viable option, provided the surface meets certain criteria.

It's important to note that while overlaying with resin-bound material can minimize the need for extensive preparations, the success of the overlay largely depends on the condition of the existing surface and adherence to proper installation techniques.

Here's a general guide on how this can be achieved with minimal preparation:

  1. Assessment: Start by assessing the existing surface. It should be structurally sound, free from major cracks and capable of supporting the additional weight of the resin-bound overlay.

  2. Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the surface to remove any dirt, debris, oil, or other contaminants. Power washing or using appropriate cleaning agents can help achieve a clean substrate.

  3. Repair: Address any minor cracks or defects in the existing surface. These should be repaired using suitable fillers or repair materials to ensure a smooth and even substrate.

  4. Thickness Consideration: Determine the appropriate thickness of the resin-bound overlay. This depends on the condition of the existing surface and the desired finish. The overlay can typically range from 15 millimetres to a centimetre or more.

  5. Curing: Allow 48 hours for the resin-bound overlay to cure as per the manufacturer's recommendations. This ensures that it sets and achieves its full strength.

  6. Sealing (optional): Consider applying a topcoat sealer yearly or bi-yearly to enhance the durability and longevity of the overlay. This can provide additional protection against UV rays and potential stains.

Devine Resin has performed successful resin bound overlays of pre-existing surfaces where other company's have quoted for full dig-out groundworks saving customers regularly up to 60% on their home improvement projects.

Repairs, Reinstatements and Resin Bound Solutions

Devine is here to help solve resin bound repairs from traction damage, subsidence, staining, rusting, cracking and cosmetic issues caused by unforeseen circumstances or home improvement items being changed such as fence posts, garage doors, gates, gas and utilities.

We at Devine Resin have extensive knowledge of the resin bound market, colour blends, materials that have been historically and what the best solutions are for resolving minor repairs all the way up to larger resin bound system failers. Devine is often subcontracted to, to resolve and reinstatement issues on behalf of well know companies.

The main reason for this is because we have the ability to reuse previously installed stone to reduce the chances of a quarrying differential and increase the chances of an exact blend match.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most Commonly Asked Questions,

What is the cost of a Resin Bound Surface?
It depends on the current surface, occasionally resin bound can be overlaid on a pre-existing surface. Should the client be happy that their Tarmac, Cement or pre-existing surface is structurally stable we can overlay most surface types. This can include, crazy paving, tiling and block paving on occasion.
Per Square Metre costs can vary depending on the size and the installation depth required.
We would estimate the cost for resin bound, supplied and installed at 15 - 18mm in depth suitable for residential vehicles using UVR stable resin, per square metre to be:

50-80 at £50 ex vat

80-150 at £45 ex vat

150-300 at £42 ex vat

300-450 at £40 ex vat

450-1,200 at £38 ex vat

1,200 + at £37.50 ex vat

When there are groundworks these estimated prices will rise depending on the preparations required, please view our recommended speciation here.
